When hovering with the mouse cursor over certain bookmarks the status bar shows the message: "No locale is found. Please re-install Lunascape."

This seems to be a similar problem as with the portugese version described here.

  • The bookmark in the image has been saved using Gecko.
  • The status bar message is shown in all three engines.
  • The standard engine is Gecko.
  • Lunascape is installed as portable.
  • Never installed newer version over older version. I always de-installed previous version first.
  • System Info:

Hi nosecrets,

Thanks for the report.

So, it happens to certain bookmarks. Are they in your language or other languages? I can see from your attachment that the google site you have in your Favorites is in Japanese. Just wanted to confirm whether or not the message appears to bookmarks which is in language other than your Lunascape language ver.

When I do the same (bookmark the Google JPN), I don't see the message in my status bar. I'm using US_ENG version of Lunascape 6.4.2.

Thanks,

Hi Sarah,

The bookmarks to which that happens are all NOT in my language.
I just added a few G..gle bookmarks from de, ca, cn and jp again for testing. And none of them show me the above status message.
It's a bit weird.

I'm not sure if there is any further investigation necessary. I just wanted to tell you that there is a small problem somewhere.
I read in your blog that this Lunascape version isn't supported any longer anyway. But I don't want to upgrade right now. There are too many security issues and unanswered security questions in the newest Gecko engine.

Hi nosecrets,

Thanks for your reply. Sure, I'll keep it in mind.

I understand you have concerns on new Gecko version (3.6.x). Actually, good or bad, we're going to release 6.4.4 with Gecko engine equivalent to FF 3.5.17 soon. This is due to some bugs that we've encountered with Gecko 3.6.x. We'll be updating the Gecko back to 3.6.x in future, but for now, this is what we're going to do. 6.4.3 released only with JPN version has 3.5.x now...So, you may consider updating your Lunascape to 6.4.4 when it becomes available.

Cheers,

Hello again,

Uhhh, that was fast! :D

Gecko 1.9.1.17 sounds interesting.
Ok then, I will wait for Lunascape 6.4.4.

If everything goes as we planned, it should be available to you by next week ;)

Thanks

I just installed Lunascape 6.4.4. The bug described here is still persistent in this new version.

Steps I did to reproduce:
  • Uninstalled the previously installed Lunascape. I let Lunascape delete the profile folder and the favourites.
  • Installed Lunascape as portable in a directory off the Windows Program folder.
  • Lunascape NOT set as default browser.
  • Selected Gecko as default rendering engine.
  • Did NOT import any favourites.
  • Opened Google website with a different language than the one from Lunascape.
In my case I called www.google.co.jp on a German Lunascape.
  • Saved to the favourites after the page has been fully loaded.

This way the "No locale is found" message is showed in the status bar when hovering with the mouse cursor over the saved link in the favourites from the menu bar. It is not showed when hovering over the same link in the favourites from the side bar.

I am not sure if all steps provided are really necessary. It's just what I did.
It is only the first saved link that shows this message. If I add www.google.cn as the second favourite then this one is ok.
When I delete both added google links and add just the one from .cn then the message is also showed.

Thank you, nosecrets, for the report.

My understanding of this issue is that although the "No locale..." message is shown in the status bar, the Favorites link is working fine. If not, please let me know.

I'll have my QA team to test a German version and see if they can reproduce the issue to look into. I'll let you know once I hear back from them.

Thanks,

Correct. The link is working fine. It's just the message in the status bar that is a bit disturbing.
