A New Lunascape Official Blog!

Lunascape 6.5.4 released with updated WebKit and more

with 4 comments

It’s almost the end of the summer here in the US… Time flies, huh? We hope you had a great one in any case.

We just released newer version of Lunascape today. There are 2 new things with it. One is that WebKit engine is updated to revision 91436. The other is that “Go to URL” function is added to Highlighted Search, which you will see when you highlight some text.

These 2 new goodies don’t come straightforward, however, and we apologize for that. When you use WebKit, you may still see a message something like “your browser is out of date” in some applications. The problem is that our user agent for WebKit engine is sometime not recognized properly, and we’d have to overhaul the grammar of it. We’ll work on that in subsequent releases so that such a message won’t scare you away.

As for the change to Highlighted Search, it doesn’t appear automatically for those of you who update Lunascape from earlier versions and we’d need to ask you to do the following steps.

1. Select View - Sidebar - Settings
2. Right-click “Highlighted Search” in the Settings sidebar and select “Reset”
3. If you have changed settings such as the default search engine for this function, these settings will also be reset. Please perform your settings once again, after resetting the Highlight Search function as above.

In addition to these, we have fixed several bugs. Please check out the Release Note for details - the bug that has been annoying you might have been fixed!

The next update should come in about 3 weeks, so please stay tuned.

iLunascape 3.1.1 to ease crash issues

leave a comment »

We have learned that some of you are experiencing more crash since updating from version 1.5 for iPad to 3.0 or later.

While we don’t yet have sufficient information on why and how that happens, we’ve identified something that might be causing this to users who use devices with 256MB RAM or less. This is related to how the rendering is done when you are scrolling…

We hope this fix will stabilize the crash issue, but if not, please please let us know the details. We want to make it right.

iLunascape 3.1.0 Released with Migration Tool

leave a comment »

As we mentioned about a month ago, we’d made a big change to iLunascape app for version 3. Previously there were separate apps for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad, but from 3.0.0 , they’ve been united as universal app.

But, due to its transition, we still have 2 apps, namely iLunascape and iLunascape Lite. We are planning to beef up iLunascape (not lite) from here on and encourage everyone who uses iLunascape Lite (most likely someone who previously installed iLunascape for iPhone) to migrate to iLunascape. (Yes, it’s free, so why not?)

In order to support migration, we have prepared a little data transfer tool with 3.1.0. With this feature, you can transfer your data in iLunascape Lite to iLunascape via Dropbox. Data that can be transferred are Settings, Bookmarks, Downloaded Files, Homepage, and History.

Please note, however, that such transferred data will overwrite the existing data in iLunascape and do not merge. No issue if you install iLunascape for the first time, but if you have been using it for iPad and else, please be careful. We are planning to provide more robust (and perhaps easier) migration tool later on.

Step-by-Step instruction of the migration is available here. This information can be also accessed via iLunascape How To page (at FAQ section) and initial bookmarks.

Hope all goes well and please let us know if you have any trouble doing the transfer!

Pushing out another minor update - 6.5.3

leave a comment »

Hi guys,

Just less than a week from the last update, we are delivering another minor update regarding Gecko engine. This one fixes SQLite Version Error.

When you have certain versions of sqlite3.dll in the system, Lunascape failed to start, and an “SQLite Version Error” appeared. This issue was primarily seen with Windows XP SP3 users.

We are hoping that recent updates complete fixing the quirks in Gecko engine, but if you are still having any issue, please do let us know.

You can wait for update notification, or download the latest now.
