Lunascape ver. 6.5.1 Release: Gecko Updates and Bug Fix
Today, we have released version 6.5.1 of Lunascape with the Gecko engine updates to revision 1.9.2.18 (corresponding to the Firefox 3.6.18) and one occasional, but critical Gecko-specific bug fix. In some situations, the Gecko dll files failed to load when switching to the Gecko engine. This sometimes resulted in inability to browse the Web with Gecko engine, or caused Lunascape to crash. We hope those who has ecperienc3ed the issue become able to enjoy the Gecko engine by upgrading to this new version.
Lunascape version 6.4.1 Release: Online Bookmarks, Gecko Upgrade and More.
Thanks to many positive feedback on the 6.5 beta. We’ve decided to move the schedule forward and to release Lunascape 6.4.1, which includes most of the new features introduced in the beta, today.
As many of you know, one of the new features is Online Bookmarks that allow you to bring your bookmarks with your iPhone or iPad. You can get access to your Online Bookmarks via iLunascape anytime. Also, you can sync your Online Bookmarks with the Firefox and from both ends using the Firefox Sync or the Lunascape’s Online Sync account. You can learn more on what you can do with the Online Bookmarks in the old entry.
The next major change is a much-anticipated upgrade of the Gecko engine to the Firefox 3.6 series. The 6.4.1 has Gecko version 1.9.2.13 that corresponds to the Firefox version 3.6.13. As a result, we’re temporary closing the ‘choose your own Gecko’ project on the Luna Labs and recommend users to use the upgraded Gecko (Firefox 3.6 series) with Lunascape.
Another change is in the Lunascape Settings dialogue. Some of the options are shuffled around and re-categorized in such a way that hopefully makes more sense to users, for now…. We plan to refresh the appearance and layout of the dialogue in a future release, so your feedback are welcome.
Last but not least, the Lunascape 6.4.1 is one of the first official release that includes translations made by volunteers. Yes, that’s right. Your contributions have made this version more complete! Thank you so much to those volunteers who has made it happen. We’ll create a thank you page on our Web site and list names of the contributors to show our appreciation. Translations made through the Lunascape Localizer will be kept reflected in every releases of Lunascape (the official global version and Europe language versions) from now on. If interested, please register yourself at the Lunascape Localizer.
We’ve also released an update of iLunascape Lite for iPhone (ver. 1.1.2) today. It has the Firefox Sync 1.6 support, so incompatibility between different versions is addressed, and you should have no issue accessing to your Online Bookmarks.
Hope you’ll enjoy this new release of Lunascape 6.4.1 and iLunascape Lite for iPhone 1.1.2.

Introducing iLunascape for iPad
Hi Guys,
Today we are happy to announce a new addition to our product family - iLunascape. That is the iPad version of our browser!
It is not “triple engine” and actually quite different to the Lunascape browser your are familiar with. Why?
Well, it’s because browsing on the iPad is fundamentally different from browsing on a PC.
Remember when Steve Jobs announced the iPad early this year, talking about how it was going to be an awesome Internet device?
He was right.
We at Lunascape use more than one, and we agree, they’re really great. We’ve found, though, that it’s a very different experience from working at our desk. Often, we’re browsing the news, tweeting updates, or checking out your comments on the Facebook page while we’re in the living room, watching TV, or taking a break at a cafe. Sometimes it’s in our lap, sometimes we’re holding it above us.
So why would you expect to use your web browser the same way as when you’re sitting at a desk?
You wouldn’t. And that’s why we developed iLunascape - specifically with iPad usage in mind. You’re going to be holding it at the bottom a lot, so we moved all the major actions down to the bottom. (And we named it as “In Reach” interface - as you can access menus and tabs easily while holding the iPad, as well as it is very simple to use for anyone.) You are going to depend more than ever on tab browsing, so we brought over all the real desktop-like tab functions to it.
As this is just a start, the features are rather limited. We will develop it further by listening to your feedback. So, give it a try and let us know what you think. It is free.
P.S. As you are probably aware, this is our first endeavor to create on non-Windows platform. We hope this shows a bit of progress on our end for those of you waiting for the Mac version:-)
Tips: Easy Capturing of Whole Page
One of the tools I love with Lunascape is capturing a whole Web page as an image. How is this useful? Well, it is useful because I can capture “whole” page, not just what is being displayed with my browser in my monitor.
I assume many of you usually use your computer’s “print screen” feature or some other image capturing tools when you want to take a screen shot of what you’re viewing on your window (monitor). Those works great if you want to capture things outside of your browser, such as, taking a screen shot of software you use.
However, if you want to take a screen shot of what you’re viewing on your browser, use this feature! Let’s say you want to find out what kind of cell phone plans are available to you. So, you go to a Web site (I’ll use AT&T as an example).
Below is what you’d probably see in your browser, and this is a screen shot taken by using “print screen” feature in my PC.
Now, you see this screen shot actually captures things like I probably do not want to capture, such as, my browser’s Toolbar, or tabs, etc. Yet, it is not capturing what I want to capture, like all the plans available on this Web site — it captures only ‘Nation Plans’.
And what I really want to capture is this whole page where I can view all the plans at once!
How to do this? It’s simple
