Lunascape “goes to” Europe & Lunascape Localizer is now available
Hi guys,
We have a great piece of news to share with you today!
Have you heard of “Browser Choice Screen” that has been implemented in Europe (European Economic Area, to be precise)? This is regarding the resolution between European Commission and Microsoft on anti-trust issue. Top 12 browsers are listed in the screen so that IE users in the area have the opportunity to learn about other choices and install alternative browsers. You can read about it in this CNN article.
We didn’t make the cut for the first implementation earlier this year. BUT, we have gotten recognized as top 12 since then and now included in the Browser Choice Screen from today! You can check the screen out at www.browserchoice.eu.
We cannot thank you enough for your support to get us up to this stage. We are very excited about introducing our triple engine browser more broadly in Europe. To make the most of this opportunity, we had worked hard this summer, so let me highlight a few things on what happened.
Added additional 17 European languages +English (UK)– not fully translated but basic translations are done.
- Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian (Bokmal), Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Swedish.
- Menus, Lunascape Settings and some other spots are translated. And this is closely related to why we made the installer change for version 6.3 as we wrote in yesterday’s post. You can find them at Downloads page for Europe, but please read FAQs first to make language switch.
Prepared landing pages (summary webpages) in 23 languages.
- Languages listed above + English (UK), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish
- You can view them by clicking the language name on the Downloads page for Europe.
- What do you think? We tried to make it as an easy to understand 1 pager. If you find translation mistakes, please let us know.
Help contents also added for the languages above.
- Translated initial basic information (getting started). Do you think helpful? If so, we’d like to extend this to other languages as well (with your help, of course).
Lots of translation work, indeed. To make this happen within short amount of time, some of you who kindly volunteered for these languages translation had been contacted and contributed translation already. Thank you so much for helping us out even in your vacation time.
And now we need more of your help on this front, and opened the phase 2 of Lunascape Localizer today.
We need your help particularly in the newly added European languages, so those languages are also added to the Localizer. So if you use those languages, please register and help.
We understand that there have been many other new language requests (e.g. Indonesian) and we will make them available for translation at the localizer as soon as we can, but please understand that we had to prioritize because such opportunity knocked on our door.
For more detail on how to contribute to localization, please visit Lunascape Localizer and read through the user guide in “help”. We will start contacting registered volunteers and organizing language groups shortly.
And last but not least, if you are in Europe and/or have friends in Europe, please help us spreading the word.
The more the merrier, right?
